The panic-stricken moods related to the coronavirus have already passed in Armenia. Vagharshak Hakobyan, member of the majority My Step faction in the National Assembly, said this in a briefing with reporters.
Asked by reporters whether it is true that tourists have begun to leave Tsakhkadzor after organizing quarantine at the Golden Palace Hotel in Tsakhkadzor, the MP responded that he, the Minister of Health, and the governor of Kotayk Province had been in Tsakhkadzor and spoken with the locals.
"The information that the hotels in Tsakhkadzor have become empty en masse is not too accurate," Hakobyan said. "The population of Tsakhkadzor looks at the current quarantine with a lot of understanding and supports the quarantined people."
The lawmaker added that he had a phone conversation with hotel owners in Tsaghkadzor, and they had said that the situation was normal.
According to Hakobyan, although the spread of coronavirus has had a negative impact on the world economy, Armenia is coming out of the situation with minimal losses due to its rapid and operative response.
The MP also said that a campaign was launched on Facebook and some other social media calling on people to visit Tsakhkadzor and spend their weekends there.
"I believe everyone who wants to support the city's tourism should take this opportunity," Vagharshak Hakobyan added.
