YEREVAN. – Given the mood in the society, I have no doubt that YES will receive the necessary number of votes in the upcoming referendum in Armenia. Sisak Gabrielyan, a member of the majority My Step faction at the National Assembly of Armenia, noted this during a briefing in parliament

The MP noted that although he has not yet campaigned in the provinces, having visited some districts in Yerevan, he has the impression that almost everyone knows that a constitutional referendum will be held in Armenia.

According to him, 98 out of 100 people they met were in favor of YES in this plebiscite. The MP from the ruling bloc added that this is what gives them confidence that they will receive the necessary number of votes from the fellow citizens.

Let us remind that on April 5 a referendum on one article of the Constitution is scheduled in Armenia. Authorities have suggested early termination of the powers of 7 and 9 members of the Constitutional Court, including the CC president, calling them former "regime" representatives. The answer will be positive not only for half of the voters saying "YES", but also for not less than a quarter of the voters, that is, about 650,000 people.

The aforesaid constitutional referendum is scheduled for April 5. Authorities have suggested early termination of the powers of seven members of the nine-member Constitutional Court, including of its president, calling them the representatives of the former "regime." The  campaign by the authorities shall win if at least a quarter of the voters on the voters’ lists—that is, about 650,000 people—vote YES in this plebiscite.
