By the decision of the Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia, owner of Armenia’s Fifth Channel TV station Armen Tavadyan will be released from prison.
Tavadyan’s attorney Hovhannes Khudoyan told reporters that Tavadyan is being kept at Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution and will be released in a matter of hours. Khudoyan added that the reason why the appeal was upheld was because there was no substantiated suspicion.
Preliminary investigation of Tavadyan’s case is over, yet the indictment hasn’t been announced yet.
Armen Tavadyan was arrested under the case of the offer that Varuzhan Mkrtchyan (Mkrtchyan presented himself as a supporter of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan) made to a victim under the case of the events of March 1, 2008 to refuse to testify, based on a video prepared by the police.
