Some judges in Armenia have over 3 thousand civil cases pending, said the head of the Judicial Department Karen Poladyan on Tuesday.

According to Poladyan, the solution to the problem of the judicial system workload is not to increase the number of judges, but to reduce the cases under consideration.

He believes that a thousand cases in the production of one judge are completely abnormal.

“Some judges, for example, in the Syunik and Armavir provinces, have 100-120, 130 criminal cases. In Yerevan, judges consider an average of 80 cases,” he said noting that the matter is only about cases, not about petitions or protests.
