More than two dozen police officers are on duty Wednesday on the Vagharshapat (Etchmiadzin)-Yerevan motorway, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reported from the area.
One of the police officers told Armenian News-NEWS.am that they are checking whether the people are carrying IDs and wearing face masks.
But it is noteworthy that only the vehicles coming to Yerevan are carefully inspected, which has caused a big traffic jam, whereas the inspections in the opposite direction are partially carried out, and therefore there is no traffic jam in that direction.
As reported earlier, by the new decision of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, who is also Commandant of the current state of emergency in the country due to the COVID-19 situation, people in Armenia are from now on required to carry an ID when leaving their residence.
