Former director of the National Security Service of Armenia, leader of Homeland Party Artur Vanetsyan is in the yard of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction in Shengavit Administrative District where the petition for the arrest of Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan is being considered.

“Today we are here to express political solidarity. All the evaluations are given in the statement that we issued yesterday,” Vanetsyan said.

When asked for his evaluation of the process regarding Tsarukyan, Vanetsyan said his evaluation is expressed in the joint statement that his party and two other political parties issued yesterday. In response to a journalist’s specifying question about his opinion on the case, Vanetsyan said the case is unequivocally political and serves as an attempt to silence political opponents. “The Prosecutor General, who presented the charges, couldn’t convince the public or me that the charge is substantiated,” he said.

Asked what makes him certain that the process is political and when told that the grounds haven’t been presented yet, Vanetsyan said the grounds presented to the public serve as a ground to assume that there is no substantiated evidence.
