PreferredToday, the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction in Shengavit Administrative District will announce its decision on the petition for arrest of leader of Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan. The decision will be announced by Judge Robert Papoyan, who had left for the consultation room on Friday.
The petition was examined for three days. Today, as in the past couple of days, deputies of Prosperous Armenia Party have gathered in the yard of the court, and there are many police troops.
The hearing is being held behind closed doors.
Tsarukyan is charged with obstructing the will of voters through electoral fraud, but doesn’t accept the charge and views the case against him as unlawful.
On June 16, the National Assembly of Armenia approved the two petitions of Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan to strip Tsarukyan of parliamentary immunity and deprive him of his liberty.
