YEREVAN. – The Constitutional Court had the opportunity to change in 1.5 years, but it did not happen. Lilit Makunts, head of the majority My Step faction, said this at Monday’s special sitting of the National Assembly to discuss the bill on making amendments in the Constitution of Armenia.
According to her, "impermissible processes" took place in that period.
"As before, we are confident that constitutional reform is the best way to go in the current situation, but it is clear that we cannot do that. That's why we present to the public the program that is being discussed in the National Assembly today," Makunts said.
She also noted that this is an interim decision, whereas a comprehensive decision will be made only after profound constitutional amendments.
