Head of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan won’t be summoned to the Supreme Judicial Council for an interview since the latter has denied the motion filed by Judge Alexander Azaryan of the Criminal Court of Appeal.

Today the Supreme Judicial Council was considering the motion of the justice minister to subject Judge Azaryan to disciplinary liability.

According to the motion filed by Head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan on March 13, on April 10, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan instituted disciplinary proceedings against Judge Alexander Azaryan, and on May 22, submitted a relevant motion to the Supreme Judicial Council.

The reason for instituting disciplinary proceedings was the assessment made during the closed-door hearing on the case of the pre-trial measure against owner of 5 TV Channel Armen Tavadyan.

Alexander Azaryan has a high rating, has been recognized as a judge with the highest rating for two consecutive years, and as of June 1, 2020, he still has the highest rating (76 points).
