Touching upon the deaths of two fixed-term servicemen today, ex-spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan told reporters that Armenia has a very good understanding of the fact that the frontline isn’t the only place military operations are carried out.
“If the adversary is using combat UAVs, artillery of different calibers and other weapons, we understand that the concepts of rear and frontline in war are very relative. Yes, we are trying not to keep fixed-term servicemen on the border, but since the fronts and depths have changed, very often military operations take place in depth,” Hovhannisyan said.
As reported earlier, fixed-term servicemen, Junior Sergeants Smbat Gabrielyan and Grisha Matevosyan had been lethally wounded from gunshots fired by Azerbaijani soldiers in the northeastern sector of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
