  • Representatives of the Armenian community in Los Angeles, California, held a protest action against the recent attacks by Azerbaijan on the state border of Armenia.

The protest started in front of the Azerbaijani Consulate in Los Angeles. which was attended by thousands of Armenians. The participants condemned the Azerbaijani aggression. The action was accompanied by Armenian songs and dances.

Later there was a clash with the Azerbaijanis. There are wounded. The Azerbaijani attacked the Armenian young women as they were leaving the area. 

  • As of July 22, 35,693 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Armenia with 24,766 recoveries and 678 deaths. 10,032 patients with COVID-19 are currently undergoing treatment. In total, 149,898 tests have been completed, the health ministry reported.

Thus, we have 439 new cases and 560 recoveries.

According to her, “59-year-old Siranush Harutyunyan worked as a pediatrician in the polyclinic of the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, but these days she was not involved in the fight against COVID-19."

  • On July 6, 2020, the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption of Armenia instituted proceedings on the ground of prima facie violation by opposition party leader and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan of the incompatibility requirement.

Taking into consideration certain articles of the Armenian legislation, the Commission decided to institute proceedings on the ground of prima facie violation by Gagik Tsarukyan of incompatibility requirements. The ground for instituting proceedings was the application that the head of the Agency for State Register of Legal Entities of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia had addressed to the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption.

  • The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today announced its decision granting the application of Armenia’s ex-finance minister Gagik Khachatryan.

The ECHR has demanded that Armenian government to ensure immediate treatment adequate to Khachatryan’s health condition in a civic hospital and by foreign doctors.

Gagik Khachatryan, who is 64 years old and has illegally been under custody for eleven months now, is in need of immediate surgery for spinal stenosis.

Gagik Khachatryan is charged with abuse of official powers and wasting of large sums of money. The charges concern the alleged crimes committed during his tenure as the SRC chief. Khachatryan was detained on August 27, 2019, and was arrested three days later.

  • Businessman, former owner of Marco Polo Café in Yerevan Armen Sahakyan, who moved to the US a few years ago and was better known in Yerevan with his nickname ‘Vietnam’, was murdered in his house in Los Angeles, freenews.am reported, adding that Sahakyan’s wife was severely wounded during the shooting.

According to freenews.am, rumor in the Armenian community has it that the murder was ordered by the local Armenians. The businessman had three underage children.
