YEREVAN. – The applicants who were not admitted to Armenia’s university on Monday left from outside Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and started a sit-in at the intersection nearby the ministry (PHOTOS).

A large number of special police forces removed these protesters off the road.

They also tried to apprehend a university applicant, but the protesters did not allow it.

According to lawyer Aleksandr Kochubayev, however, two people were apprehended.

To note, these applicants who were not admitted to universities and their parents are protesting, complaining about the results of the university entrance exams and the new approach of the education department. Accordingly, numerous applicants with lower scores were accepted to universities, whereas many applicants with higher scores were not accepted, as the applicants’ selected profession was underscored this year, and therefore priority was given to those who selected a given profession as their first choice, rather than to those with high scores in any subject.
