The world has changed, the strong states of the region are trying to emphasize their role, this is the result of global geopolitical changes, the second President of Armenia Kocharyan said in an interview with three Armenian TV channels, being asked to comment on what caused the latest activity of Turkey.

According to him, Turkey's ambitions today and 10-15 years ago do not differ significantly, and this factor must be taken into account.  “This is a serious message for those who propose to withdraw the Russian base from Armenia, hold rallies at the Russian embassies. Today, these people should not only sober up, but also understand what this is connected with and what consequences it can lead to for Armenia if Russia is not present with the country via the Russian base. Turkey has the largest army in NATO with powerful capabilities,” he noted.

Asked that Turkey and Azerbaijan are conducting unprecedented drills in Nakhichevan and deploying a large number of troops there, in connection with which an attack on Armenia is possible, the ex-president noted that this is definitely a demonstration of force, and warned that this is possible.

“Such large-scale drills are not only exercises for the sake of exercises, but a serious political signal to all countries in the region.  I do not think that they can develop into an invasion, but the fact is that you are being told that such a scenario is possible,” he noted.
