The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction, under the chairmanship of Judge Artur Mkrtchyan, is launching the court hearing on the pre-trial measure against Karen Khachatryan, nephew of ex-chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, ex-finance minister Gagik Khachatryan.

Karen Khachatryan used to hold the position of Head of the Internal Security Department of the State Revenue Committee and is charged with embezzlement or squander in particularly large amounts and official fraud.

Gagik Khachatryan is also charged within the scope of the same criminal case.

On August 27, the court denied Gagik Khachatryan’s attorneys’ motion to release him from custody.
