Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who is currently in Chinari village of Tavush Province, expressed gratitude to the locals for standing strong during the battles that took place in July and added that the government believes it must be able to clearly fulfill its obligations during such situations.

The Prime Minister touched upon the fact that even though all the structures damaged during the recent incidents in Tavush have been recovered, there are still homes damaged after shelling in the past. “When the government repairs a damaged street, the resident living a block away asks why the government isn’t repairing the damaged street in front of his or her house. Sometimes I get the impression that it would be better if the government didn’t do anything at all so that everyone would be satisfied, but this is not the way to move forward. Another problem is the right balance of obligations of the state and citizens. Today we record that a house is being built from scratch in Chinari village for the first time since 1990.”

The Prime Minister admitted that there is a problem with injustice and pensions, but, for instance, the problem with purveyance of figs has been solved. “Last year, Armenia exported 600 tons of figs, and our objective is to make sure we export 6,000 tons this year. If the government pays everyone a certain amount of money, nothing will change. Our objective is to help you make money by cultivating figs,” he said.
