The situation on the battlefield remains tense. Fighting continued in all directions of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) battlefront yesterday all night and today during the afternoon; they were quite intense. Artsrun Hovhannisyan, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, stated about this at Sunday evening’s press briefing.
"First in the north, the enemy troops—mainly small tactical groups—tried—with the help of artillery—to attack our positions, but were thrown back—suffering losses.
Early in the morning in the direction of Martuni, after some success, our troops managed to stop the enemy, to throw back to the initial lines; they have suffered considerable losses.
The battles were quite fierce during the whole day in the city of Shushi and the surrounding areas, under the fences, on the roads leading to Shushi. At the moment, some battles are still taking place, but the intensity has significantly decreased.
It was also severe in the direction of Berdzor today. The enemy forces tried several times to break through and go out to Berdzor—probably trying to come to the help of their units fighting in Shushi, but suffering considerable losses, they were thrown back; moreover, they fled," Hovhannisyan said, adding that the fighting is still going on.
Artsrun Hovhannisyan assessed the current situation on the battlefront as quite positive, and noted that the Armenian forces manage to prevent the Azerbaijani forces from advancing.
