The court will announce its decision on the motion to arrest leader of Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan tomorrow. This is what Tsarukyan’s attorney Yerem Sargsyan told reporters today.

Tsarukyan is detained on suspicion of a crime provided for by Article 225.1 of the Criminal Code (organizing and holding events and assemblies in violation of the procedure established by law).

“Moreover, since Tsarukyan benefits from parliamentary immunity, the court couldn’t deprive him of his liberty without solving the issue of immunity. The only condition for this was the fact that he was allegedly caught at the moment of committing the crime or immediately after that. Now the court says he was caught right after committing the crime, not at the moment of committing the crime, but can’t say who caught him, when and where since Tsarukyan received a notice to show up to the National Security Service at 12:10 and was at the National Security Service at 12:40 (before the rally began), after which he was detained at 23:25. There are no answers to the questions about who caught him, when and where, and it turns out that Tsarukyan committed a crime and was caught while being at the National Security Service. We hope the court renders a legitimate decision,” he said.

Tsarukyan was summoned to the National Security Service before yesterday’s rally and was later detained.
