Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) chairman—and MP and business tycoon—Gagik Tsarukyan has been released from court; his detention was declared illegal. Tsarukyan’s lawyer Yerem Sargsyan wrote about this on his Facebook.

The PAP leader was greeted with applause by those gathered in the court yard.

Tsarukyan was detained on suspicion of a crime under a Criminal Code article on organizing and holding events and rallies contrary to the prohibition established by law.

Before the start of Thursday's rally, the PAP leader was summoned to the National Security Service and later detained.
