The National Assembly (NA) of Armenia continues its regular sessions on Wednesday.

There are 16 matters on the agenda.

On Tuesday, the parliament elected Lilit Tadevosyan as President of the Court of Cassation.

The issue of adopting the Criminal Procedure Code, which aims to make the registration of the proceedings electronic, was also discussed. For the first time, the principle of criminal procedure enshrines the prohibition of the abuse of the right, and an opportunity is given to introduce the idea of a reserve judge. According to the Minister of Justice, Rustam Badasyan, this will enable not to restart the case if there is a change in the presiding judge.

At the investigation stage, it is proposed to increase the role of the ombudsman; henceforth the information provided by the latter will have the status of evidence. The institute of legal presumption of facts will be introduced, and the formal stage of criminal investigation will be eliminated.

The NA agenda also includes matters on making additions to the Law on State Border, on making an addition to the Law on Local Self-Government, and some other matters.
