On February 12, Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan paid a visit to the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders, as reported the board of the Union.

Chairman of the board Sasun Mikayelyan and Mayor Hayk Marutyan lit candles at the local chapel and prayed for the eternal memory of the heroes who fell for the homeland.

During the official meeting, the parties discussed several issues related to cooperation between Yerevan Municipality and the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders.

“The Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders was established by Sparapet (Commander-in-Chief) Vazgen Sargsyan, who played a major role in the first battle for the liberation of Artsakh. We succeeded in liberating 8,000 square kilometers of land and never lost hope. We have yet to prove that we will be able to retrieve those lands. I think it’s very wrong to forget about our victory of the past,” Sasun Mikayelyan said.

In his turn, Marutyan stated that the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders is not only an institution, but also represents the modern history of Armenia.

At the end of the meeting, Marutyan received an award from the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders.
