The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction is currently examining the appeal against the decision on detaining former chief of staff of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Saghatelyan and the motion of the investigator of the National Security Service (NSS) to arrest him.

The court examination was supposed to be held yesterday, but was postponed since the investigator of the NSS had filed a motion to arrest Saghatelyan.

On Feb. 19, officers of the NSS conducted a search in the offices of Ara Saghatelyan, analyst Karen Bekaryan, Azerologist Anzhela Elibegova and constitutional expert Gohar Meloyan, seized phones and computers, after which the four were apprehended.

Elibegova and Meloyan refused to testify and were released, while Bekaryan, Saghatelyan and citizens Mher Avagyan and Aram Sargsyan are detained.

Today the Court ruled to arrest citizen Aram Sargsyan.
