YEREVAN. – Of course there is contact with Onik Gasparyan [Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces]. Ex-PM Vazgen Manukyan—the PM candidate of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement of Armenia—told this to reporters before Tuesday’s opposition rally on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue, across the parliament building.

"It is not like as if we are sitting, discussing with each other; we just have information about each other. I do not know whether he [Gasparyan] will apply to the administrative court or not; but I would not advise that much," Manukyan added.

And referring to the fact that today is the last day that President Armen Sarkissian can apply to the Constitutional Court on the issue of PM Nikol Pashinyan’s petition to dismiss the chief of the General Staff, Onik Gasparyan, Vazgen Manukyan said: "Today it is important whether or not the President will appeal to the Constitutional Court by 6 o'clock [in the evening], and what steps Nikol Pashinyan will take after that. But one thing I am convinced of is that the army will not back away; that is, if there will be a decree from Nikol Pashinyan that he is firing [Gasparyan], I am convinced that the army will not obey; they will stay at their positions."
