YEREVAN. – Now, including amid the events we experienced together last year, a clear demand is sensed from Armenian society to strengthen our integration ties. Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin stated this at Friday’s roundtable discussion on the Armenian-Russian strategic union.

He added that relevant ideas were emerging, movements and political forces were emerging that intend to implement these ideas. "The deepening of integration between our [two] countries (…) is urgent and in demand. The prospects of socioeconomic development of our countries and the prospects of ensuring security largely depend on it," Kopirkin explained.

According to the ambassador, security issues, the creation of preconditions for trade and economic development in the region make the task of deepening ties between the two countries even more urgent. "It is important to use all the potential and experience accumulated during our common history, as well as the experience gained in recent times, the experience of working within the integration organizations in which our [two] countries participate," Kopirkin stressed.

As per the diplomat, the Russian-Armenian relations can be called "close relations" between the peoples, and at the same time, more importantly, the realization of real preconditions in their political actions and practical steps. "Russia and Armenia have maintained and maintain a very high level of cooperation in all spheres," the Russian ambassador concluded.
