YEREVAN. – At Wednesday's sitting, the MPs of the National Assembly elected Arsen Mkrtchyan as a new judge to the Court of Cassation of Armenia.

The second round of the election for a new judge of the cassation court was held in the parliament today. Judges Armen Haykyants and Arsen Mkrtchyan, the two candidates who had received the most votes in the first round, ran in the second round.

Out of 132 lawmakers, 102 took part in the voting today. Four ballots were declared invalid.

Eleven MPs voted for Haykyants' respective candidacy, whereas 87 lawmakers voted for Mkrtchyan. As a result, solely Arsen Mkrtchyan was elected as a judge to the Court of Cassation.
