YEREVAN. – The Russian peacekeepers also have dismissed the firing of shots by the Armenian armed forces. Acting Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan stated this at Wednesday’s sitting of the National Assembly of Armenia, answering the questions of the MPs.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense (MOD), in particular, has dismissed the statements of the Azerbaijani side. The Azerbaijan MOD issued a statement earlier accusing the Armenian side of firing on Azerbaijani military positions, including in the direction of Shushi, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), from Monday to Wednesday.

Harutyunyan noted that he had contacted the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh, and it, too, dismissed the firing of shots toward Shushi. "The enemy is trying to cover up its own illegal actions. We clearly know the tactics of the Azerbaijani side," added the acting defense minister of Armenia.
