YEREVAN. – I do not see a justification in connection with the improper handling of the bodies of the victims in [the recent] Karabakh [(Artsakh) war] at the Abovyan [city] morgue. Acting Deputy Minister of Health Gevorg Simonyan said this at Thursday’s special session of the National Assembly of Armenia, answering the MPs' questions.

But, in his view, the aforesaid is an "individual case." "There is no such ‘picture’ in other places," Simonyan assured.

And answering independent MP Tigran Urikhanyan’s question as to who will be held accountable for what happened, the acting deputy minister said that no one was trying to justify what happened. "I am convinced that it is an individual case and is not of a systemic nature. A criminal case has been initiated on this fact. Let an investigation be conducted, and the guilty will bear the punishment they deserve," Gevorg Simonyan stressed.
