YEREVAN. – Negotiations are going on at the highest level, the Moscow talks have been quite substantive, clear emphases have been made. Arsen Torosyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Armenia, told this to reporters at the National Assembly Friday, referring to reports that Armenia has returned empty-handed from the regular trilateral talks in Moscow on the matters of prisoners of war and borders.

"They [these talks] will continue so that we reach the solution we have been talking about, Azerbaijani [military] groups must leave the sovereign territory of Armenia, and this will happen as a result of the cooperation with our strategic partner [Russia] and partners, as well as the work of our armed forces," he said.

Torosyan found it difficult to say when the next talks will take place. "I can say that the internal political processes do not affect the work of our state departments in any way. Therefore, the [snap parliamentary] elections [in Armenia on June 20] have nothing to do with it," he said.

He stressed that there is mutual understanding with Russia on what the solution should be. "They are making every effort to resolve the situation in Armenia without a shot because no one in the region, especially Armenia, needs a large-scale war, the possibility of which still exists," Arsen Torosyan added.
