Sixty-two percent of the weapons that Armenia obtained were obtained between 2018 and 2020. This is what acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said during a meeting with residents of Ararat Province today.

Pashinyan also cited an excerpt from a report by an international organization in which the latter had stated that Azerbaijan imported 8.2 times more arms than Armenia between 2010 and 2020, Baku imported arms worth $3,270,000,000 between 2011 and 2020, while Armenia imported arms worth $398,000,000. The international organization also stated that the prevailing majority of the imports of Armenia date back to 2019, that is, after the velvet revolution that took place in 2018.

Touching upon the allegations against him, Pashinyan said the following: Today they say the current authorities came to power after the revolution and destroyed Armenia’s relations with the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. If the relations were that good during the administration of the former authorities, how is it that Armenia’s number one adversary was importing weapons from Armenia’s allied countries, if the relations were brilliant? They blame our government for coming to power to give lands. Would we buy weapons, if we were going to give lands?”
