They talk a lot, praise themselves today that they have created an opportunity for a solution to the Karabakh [(Artsakh)] issue in accordance with our ideas. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is the ruling Civil Contract Party’s candidate for Prime Minister, stated this during Tuesday’s election campaign in Aragatsavan village of Aragatsotn Province of Armenia—and ahead of the snap parliamentary elections on June 20.

"I say that there was no such opportunity. The content of the negotiations that existed from 1996 to 2018 left us with only one possibility: it was a way to return Karabakh to the makeup of Azerbaijan in phases," Pashinyan added.

"(…) I see more opportunities today to resolve the Artsakh issue in accordance with our ideas than it existed four years ago. (…). The need to resume the negotiation process to clarify the final status of Karabakh has been recorded within the framework of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group. We believe that after all these events, the chances of implementing the ‘secession for salvation’ formula have increased considerably; we need consistent work in this direction," noted the acting deputy premier of Armenia.
