The parents of missing and captured servicemen want the government to set up a commission that will comprise representatives of the National Security Service of Armenia, the government, the Ministry of Defense and parents so that the commission deals with the process properly and shows an individual approach to each of the missing servicemen. This is what former Deputy Head of the State Service for Emergency Situations of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Boris Avagyan said during today’s protest held in front of the government building in Armenia.

“There are many parents of captured servicemen, and if 10-15 of them have agreed on the setup of a commission and are satisfied with a commission that will simply provide them with information, there is no need for such a commission. There are parents who call me and ask if their sons will ever return since their sons are being tried in Azerbaijan. They need legal consulting and need to be told that the trial in Azerbaijan is a show for the international community,” he said.

Touching upon the involvement of Armenian lawyers in the trials in Azerbaijan, Avagyan said the following: “Of course, I’m glad that Armenian lawyers are ready to travel to Baku, but their contribution won’t be effective. I believe there is a need to invite an international law firm that will be able to help our boys. We need international lawyers who can exert pressure on Baku.”
