The parliamentary opposition, namely “Armenia” and “With Honor” factions, boycotted the session of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia once again and left the deputies of the ruling majority alone. The election of the deputy chairman of the Committee was the only item on the agenda.
Deputy of the opposition “Armenia” faction Artur Ghazinyan has been nominated for this position ten times already, and he also wasn’t attending the session. Chairman of the Committee, deputy of the ruling “Civil Contract” faction Andranik Kocharyan again addressed leader of the “Armenia” faction, ex-defense minister Seyran Ohanyan and called on him to make a final decision, elect a candidate and inform who decided to nominate Ghazinyan for the tenth time. “Was it the initiative of the leader of your alliance, ex-President Robert Kocharyan?” Kocharyan asked Ohanyan.
Nevertheless, the absence of the deputies of the opposition faction didn’t stand in the other members’ way of rejecting Ghazinyan’s nomination again.
