The water tariff for consumers in Armenia will be changed as of January 1, 2022. Garegin Baghramyan, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), told reporters about this in the National Assembly Wednesday.

"The option of setting a stable fee of 200 drams, instead of the current 180 drams [per cubic meter of supplied water], for the next 10 years is being discussed, whereas it is planned not to change the water tariff for socially disadvantaged consumers," he said.

Baghramyan noted that the PSRC is already concluding discussions with the Water Committee and Veolia Djur (water) company to sign an agreement which stipulates that there will be no change in water fees in Armenia for the next 10 years.

"We will have a tariff of about 200 drams. At the same time, a government decision is already being put into circulation whereby its is propose to set aside a group of socially disadvantages consumers for whom the price will not increase," said Garegin Baghramyan.

He informed that the PSRC meeting on this matter will take place at the end of November, and the possible tariff changes will come into force on January 1.

Earlier, Veolia Djur had submitted to the PSRC a bid to increase the water tariff in Armenia by about 43 drams; that is, to make it about 223 drams per cubic meter.
