As of 2018, 4% of preschool children in Syunik Province had access to kindergartens and pre-school institutions. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this Thursday while addressing the fundraising evening organized by the ruling Civil Contract Party on the occasion of the local election campaign.

"As of 2018, only 4 out of 100 children had the opportunity to go to kindergarten in Syunik Province. This is the handing over of Syunik Province, when Syunik was the absolute leader in the number of children with up to 100 schoolchildren in Armenia as of 2018; that is, Syunik has been the absolute leader in Armenia in the number of children with up to 4, 5, 10, 15, 20 schoolchildren. Today in the government we were talking about the fact that the government is making an allocation of 9 billion drams to involve all children in the educational process in only one community of Syunik. Excluding Yerevan and Gyumri, there has not been a single case in the history of Armenia when the government has implemented an educational program worth 9 billion drams in one community. We will go through all the communities with such 9 billions, knowing that, yes, security is our most vulnerable place today," Pashinyan added.
