The opposition "Armenia" and "With Honor" Factions of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia on Tuesday left the NA Sessions’ Hall as a sign of protest.
Hayk Mamijanyan from the "With Honor" Faction stated: "The opposition factions had demanded a special session of the NA, a session of the [NA] Council, in order to get explanations from the government on what is happening within the borders of our homeland. This process was thwarted by the ruling majority. Instead, we see the 'important' bill on the Law on Mercury on the NA agenda today. The MPs of the ‘With Honor’ Faction will return to the [NA] plenary sessions’ hall when the issues facing our country are discussed according to their importance and urgent danger, whereas we have no wish to attend your 'mercury parties.'"
And the leader of the "Armenia" Faction, former defense minister Seyran Ohanyan, announced that as a sign of protest, their faction also will not attend these regular sessions of the parliament.
