The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to complete the tasks for control over the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh and observance of the reached agreements on hostilities. This is what representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, Colonel Oleg Gorbunov said during a briefing on Wednesday.

“There haven’t been violations in the sphere of responsibility, and minor incidents have been regulated through combined efforts. In the course of one month, the safe passage of 50 columns of cars of the Azerbaijani army in the northern and southern directions, as well as in the Shushi-Karmir Shuka-Kajar and Mataghis-Getavan-Vank routes and vice versa, has been ensured.

The Russian peacekeeping forces have also escorted nearly 300 pilgrims. The humanitarian response center has carried out ten operations to provide assistance to internally displaced persons and needy families. Ahead of the New Year and Christmas, the Russian peacekeepers have wished nearly 8,000 children of Nagorno-Karabakh a Happy New Year and given them gifts. Nearly 9 tons of humanitarian assistance have been provided. In the past month, the doctors of the medical detachment have provided qualified assistance to 78 locals.

Russian engineering units continue to demine areas and objects and destroy unexploded ammunition.

To date, 1,903 buildings have been checked, 683 km of roads and 2,328 hectares of territories have been cleaned, 26,090 explosive objects have been detected and destroyed.
