Several flights are delayed at Kazakhstan's Aktau city airport, and one flight has been canceled, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports, citing the airport's website.

Protests over the sharp rise in gas prices began in Mangystau Region shortly after the New Year. The demonstrations took place after the price of gas for refueling vehicles doubled to 120 tenges per liter.

In response to these demonstrations, the local authorities announced that the price of gas would be reduced to 50 tenges per liter.

The demonstrators were closing off the roads in Aktau, including the road leading to the airport was blocked for some time.
