The residents of a homeless shelter in Yerevan are protesting Wednesday outside the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia.

Before the New Year, the management of this homeless shelter had told its residents to vacate the shelter by no later than December 31.

The homeless shelter has been run by the “Hans Christian Kofoed” Beneficent Foundation, which has been involved in this activity since 2004.

This shelter, however, was shut down on January 1 because the aforesaid charitable foundation did not participate in the respective tender, and therefore no new contract has been signed with its.

As a result, it was decided that the residents of this homeless shelter shall be provided with accommodation at the Haghtanak neighborhood in Yerevan, but these homeless persons are against this option.
