  • The seismological network of Armenia on Sunday recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border zone, at 11:19pm local time, 9 kilometers southeast of Kapan, Armenia, and at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The tremor measured magnitude 3 to 4 at the epicenter, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia informed.

The seismic activity was felt in the cities of Kapan, Kajaran, and Meghri of Armenia’s Syunik Province.

  • President Armen Sarkissian has signed a decree according to which Arakel Martikyan has been appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces.
  • At Monday's court hearing of the case on second President Robert Kocharyan’s lawsuit against PM Nikol Pashinyan and Armenia, Pashinyan's legal representative spoke against the video recording of the open court session.

The court case was heard behind closed doors.

In April, Kocharyan's lawyer, Hayk Alumyan, had filed a lawsuit with a request to defend his client’s honor and dignity from public expressed slander and a compensation for non-pecuniary damage caused by this slander.

At the previous court session, Alumyan had submitted a motion for the recusal of the presiding judge, as the assignment of this court case to this judge was done in a non-computer manner. The court, however, had denied this motion.

  • As of Monday morning, 126 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of these cases has reached 345,981 in the country, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Also, three more deaths from COVID-19 were registered, making the respective total 8,004 cases.

The Ministry of Health on Monday also publicized the latest information on the coronavirus vaccination process in Armenia.

Accordingly, as of Sunday, a total of 1,694,518 inoculations against COVID-19 have been administered in Armenia, of which the first dose was 952,813, and the second dose—740,489.

And 1,216 people in Armenia have already received booster shots.

  • More than 160 people died in Kazakhstan during the riots, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.

Most of the victims - 103 - were recorded in Alma-Ata.

In hospitals in Kazakhstan, 83 people are in serious condition.

As a result of the riots, 2,265 people in different regions of the country applied for medical assistance. Most of all in Almaty - 1,100. In Almaty region, there are about 300 people, in Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions - 200 each.

719 patients are under inpatient treatment.
