In December 2021, a total of 659,471 jobs were registered in Armenia, which is again an absolute record in the history of the Third Republic. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting  of the government.

"That is, there has never been as many registered jobs in Armenia as in December 2021," he added, assuring that there can be no manipulation with these figures.

"The average monthly salary has also increased significantly. The average salary in December 2021 was 277,661 drams, which is 30,000 drams or 12% more as compared to 2020, (…).

People working in Armenia were paid 139 billion 600 million drams in salaries in 2021, which is 15.7 billion drams or 13% more as compared to 2020.

The ratio of low-paid employees has decreased by about 9% (…)," said the PM.

According to Pashinyan, even in the conditions of the coronavirus and the war in Fall 2020, an average nominal salary increase of about 55,000 drams was registered in Armenia.

"But, unfortunately, I must emphasize that we cannot say that these numerical changes have increased the well-being of our citizens because in 2021 we had considerable inflation, which in December 2021 is 7.7% as compared to 2020; this is more than we had envisaged in the state budget," said the premier.

He added that if they manage to achieve a 7% economic growth, Armenia will have a chance at a welfare growth.

In Nikol Pashinyan’s words, according to the preliminary results of 2021, a 5.8% economic growth is registered in Armenia, and this is more than originally planned.
