Eight Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) on Monday returned from Azerbaijan to Armenia—and through the mediation of the French government and the European Union (EU).
French Ambassador to Armenia Anne Louyot, and the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, were at the Yerevan airport where they met the plane carrying these POWs.
In his welcoming remarks, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan lauded the assistance in this humanitarian issue requiring an urgent solution.
To note, these Armenian POWs were transported from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to the Armenian capital on board a French plane.
