Every time when it seems we have reached the “bottom,” we become convinced that one can roll down even more. The authorities are not tired of showing that it can be even worse—at least on human rights issues. Lawyer Hayk Alumyan said this in an interview Wednesday—and regarding the respective present-day situation in Armenia.

"What is happening in the field of human rights [in Armenia] is unprecedented on a global scale. Starting from the fact that the prime minister of the country shuts the courts, organizes attacks against the judges, until the current events. This is the case when one cannot even compare with African countries, so that we don’t offend them. These are all chains of a link, and it develops in the worst-case scenario," the lawyer said.

"But there are regularities that no one has removed. Those who destroy the judicial system [in Armenia], create a system obedient to the authorities, will stand before it, too" the lawyer warned.
