The Armenian side assured the Ambassador of Belarus that statements of Yerevan and Minsk about each other must consider the mutual interests, be based on mutual respect and the principle of sovereignty, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan.
His remarks came during the National Assembly session on Tuesday, commenting on the invitation of Belarusian Ambassador Alexander Konyuk to the Foreign Ministry.
Mirzoyan confirmed that he continues to share the position outlined in the Foreign Ministry's statement.
He expressed support to Belarus at various international venues in case of relevant requests.
Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Ministry commented on the resonant statements of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on Armenia's possible accession to the Union State. In an interview with Vladimir Solovyov, the Belarusian leader said, in particular, that Armenia "has no place to go".
