Artsakh FM: We will never give up our land

There are two conditions for the return of Azerbaijani refugees to Nagorno-Karabakh. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Foreign Minister David Babayan stated this at a meeting Saturday in Yerevan—at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia

According to him, first of all, all political issues must be resolved. This is the recognition of Artsakh, first of all, by Azerbaijan. Second, Armenian refugees must also be able to return to Baku and other Azerbaijani cities from where they were forcibly deported.

There can be no other way, Babayan stressed, adding that people who lost their homes in the 44-day Artsakh war in the fall of 2020 have been added to the issue of refugees from the first Karabakh war in the early 1990s.

When asked about the chances of de-occupation of Artsakh’s Shushi and Hadrut cities from their current Azerbaijani occupation, the Artsakh FM noted that this matter is always on the agenda.

"Like the matter of the Shahumyan, Getashen [regions], parts of the Martuni region [still] occupied by Azerbaijan. We believe that sooner or later it will happen. But there is a need to work [for it]. I can say one thing: we will never give up our land," David Babayan stressed.
