The investigative department of the National Security Service of Armenia continues the preliminary investigation within the framework of the criminal case initiated on the fact of cases of state treason and spying.

As a result of the criminal procedural and operational-search measures taken within the framework of the proceedings, information was received that the citizens of Armenia involved in the agent network, having taken part in 44-during the daytime war, on the instructions of foreign intelligence, various information of a military nature was transmitted to it from the battlefield.

As a result of the activities unleashed by the latter at the height of the war, the opposition received clear information about the types and numbers of Armenian troops, formations, military equipment, possible tactics, and more. As a result of their actions, the opposition, with the help of drones and artillery, delivered pinpoint strikes, incapacitating the Armenian military formations and hindering the further implementation of the tasks assigned to them.

Foreign intelligence involved in the spy network, mainly former or active military personnel, who, by the nature of their service, could go to the territory of military units located in Armenia and Artsakh, climb to combat posts, have access to various documents and information, concerning the military sphere.

Persons who launched treacherous activities penetrated military units, climbed to posts, secretly made video recordings, recorded the types and quantities of military equipment, the movement of military formations, photographed maps of military significance, obtained other information and transferred it to representatives of foreign intelligence for a fee.

When comparing the evidence obtained during the investigation, 20 persons were charged with treason and complicity, 14 of whom were arrested as a preventive measure.

The preliminary investigation continues, complex operational-intelligence measures and investigative actions are being taken to identify all participants in the espionage network, initiate criminal prosecutions against them, as well as neutralize foreign intelligence activities in the Armed Forces.

Many cases were also disclosed when combatants collected and transferred to representatives of foreign intelligence services data and documents of strategic importance. Thus, they weakened the security of the country and helped the enemy in solving the combat missions assigned to him.
