Kamo Kochunts, the acting Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, does not think that the Armenian army will become politicized if the deputy minister of defense is appointed the Chief of the General Staff of the army. He told reporters about this Saturday at Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan.

"The army has not been and will not be politicized," he said, when asked by reporters.

Kochunts, however, did not respond when asked whether he considers his appointment to the post of Chief of the General Staff possible.

The senior leadership of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia visited Yerablur today, on the birth anniversary of the late Supreme Commander and statesman Vazgen Sargsyan, and laid flowers at his grave.

Sargsyan would have turned 63 today.
