The meaning of "peace" said by Azerbaijan, in short, is the following: "I have demands, meet those demands, and you will have peace." Tigran Abrahamyan, an MP from the opposition "With Honor" Faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia and a security expert, told this to reporters Wednesday in the NA.
"But let me say more. There will be no peace in this region even if those demands are met; that is, if the Azerbaijani ambitions are met. Our [i.e., the Armenian side’s] main task is to figure out how we will act in case of various situational developments," he added.
Abrahamyan noted that the Armenian society should be ready that it will constantly live in a region where there will be a high probability of various crises.
"We must have a state, authorities that will have viability, that realize the depth of the situation, are able to predict possible developments over a period of time, and neutralize the threats that hang over Armenia and Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)].
I do not think that the reasons for all this are placed at the basis of the Armenian-Turkish dialogue. The main issue is the current situation around Ukraine, its impact on our region, the Turkish-Azerbaijani position on the Ukraine issue, and the situation at this stage should be viewed more in this logic," Abrahamyan said.
