The car importers of Armenia are protesting outside the State Revenue Committee (SRC) building.

They demand that the fees that are charged for the customs clearance of cars are not increased.

Tigran Hovhannisyan, chairman of the League for the Protection of Motorists of Armenia, noted that the country’s authorities have decided to double these customs clearance fees and the inspection charges—as of Monday.

Another demonstrator noted that they are dissatisfied with the current customs clearance fees as well.

Separately, Hovhannisyan stressed that the circulation of cars in the EEU territory has stopped until 2023.

Subsequently, he entered the SRC building.

And after leaving the building, Tigran Hovhannisyan said that he had agreed that they come back on Friday, meet, and present their proposals to resolve this matter.

"We have a problem in connection with the VAT and the car market, too. The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure has decided that car importers should go to the car market in Mkhchyan village; this is a serious problem," Hovhannisyan stressed.
