Russia and Turkey's positions on Ukraine do not coincide, but Moscow appreciates Ankara's efforts to resolve the crisis, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reported.

"If we talk about foreign policy topics, the key topic for us today is the situation in Ukraine and the need to resolve it as soon as possible," Lavrov said, opening talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

"It is no secret that our positions do not coincide on this issue, but we appreciate and treat with great respect the position that Turkey takes, trying to take an objective approach to the tasks arising from the current crisis," the minister said.
