Russia has played a key role in establishing a ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict zone in the fall of 2020. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this at the beginning of Friday’s extended meeting in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"We are confident that the effective activity of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh will serve the interests of strengthening the ceasefire and preventing provocations in Nagorno-Karabakh, restoring normal life, ensuring stability, security in our region. We appreciate Russia's mediation efforts, including as a co-chair country of the OSCE Minsk Group," the Armenian FM added.

In the context of the 30th anniversary of Armenia-Russia diplomatic relations as well as the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the two countries, Mirzoyan noted Armenia's readiness to make efforts to properly hold all respective events—and in accordance with the allied nature of Armenian-Russian relations.

According to Armenian FM, in recent years the Armenian-Russian interstate relations have been put on a new level, their active dialogue is developing at a high level, there is a close dialogue between them within the framework of the CSTO, EEU, CIS and other platforms, their military and politico-military cooperation as well as the broad contractual and legal framework between them is improving, and their partnership in the trade, economic, interregional, and humanitarian sectors is successful.

Also, the Armenian FM positively assessed the activities of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission on military-technical cooperation, as well as of the Armenian-Russian commission on economic cooperation and interparliamentary cooperation.

"It is obvious that the agenda of bilateral cooperation is as full as before, and it is necessary to properly prepare for the upcoming meeting," added Ararat Mirzoyan.
