  • Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is in Yerevan now, held a detailed exchange of views with the Armenian leadership in Yerevan on the course of implementation of the agreements reached between the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

At first, Lavrov visited Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan with Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan.

Later, the Russian FM held private talks with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

During the meeting, Lavrov noted that Russia is ready to provide cartographic material for Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation.

According to him, the three adopted statements at the highest level should be considered as a road map that should be followed in the process of normalizing relations.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia categorically refuted the corridor logic voiced by Azerbaijan.

Lavrov, answering a question about the slow work of the commission to unblock communications, did not agree with this assessment, saying that the work was proceeding rhythmically.

In turn, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan also noted that all roads will be within the sovereignty and jurisdiction of those countries.

Following the meetings with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the situation in Parukh village of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

Asked what Russian peacekeepers are doing to return Parukh village occupied by Azerbaijan forces, the Russian minister noted that this is one of the priority issues for the Russian military, and that the Armenian friends know that.

According to Lavrov, there is a certain result which is connected with de-escalation of tension.

As per the Russian FM, this matter will be considered and resolved within the framework of border delimitation works.

  • While the Russian FM’s visit is ongoing, the Armenian opposition, who has been protesting in Yerevan since April, addressed their speech to Sergey Lavrov.

“The Armenian people welcome you to Armenia,” opposition MP Aram Vardevanyan said during a demonstration in front of the Armenian MFA building.

According to the lawmaker, the Russian FM should record that the group of people currently in power in Armenia is only a formal force.

"They no longer represent the interests of the Armenian people and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic; that is, Artsakh,” he said.

According to Vardevanyan, the people currently in power in Armenia represent only their interests.

  • Armenia and Azerbaijan currently have an opportunity to advance in the process of normalization of relations, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried said, TASS reported.

Speaking at a briefing for foreign journalists, Donfried said that she believes that there is hope for a favorable opportunity for Azerbaijan and Armenia to move forward in normalizing relations and finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.

  • The delegation headed by Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejcinovic-Buric will arrive in Armenia on 16-17 June, the press service of the Armenian government reported.

In connection with the upcoming visit, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan issued instructions to the heads of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Defense Ministry, Finance Ministry, police, State Protection Service of the National Security Service and State Protocol Service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
